Bear and Breakfast Switch port gets release date

On Tuesday, Gummy Cat Games announced that the Nintendo Switch version of its 2022 release Bear and Breakfast will arrive on the portable console on September 15, alongside controller support for PC. This will be exciting news for many fans, as the console release was delayed behind the PC version to get it up to par.

“We’re very thankful to everyone for being so patient with us and we’re so excited to finally get Hank on a console we’ve loved from day one,” said Gummy Cat’s Game Director Rares Cinteza. “We hope everyone has a fun and relaxing time hanging out with the bear on the Switch.”

In Bear and Breakfast, you play as a himbo brown bear named Hank who gets roped into what’s essentially a post-apocalyptic AirBnB. You take over rundown properties in different biomes and turn them into funky little hotels to attract the humans that are starting to return to the area to spend their money. Along the way, Hank meets NPCs who also need his help, and as a sweet boy, he’s always down.

The game is described as a laid-back management sim, and it generally is, despite the undercurrent of predatory capitalism flowing in the background. You take Hank around the different areas, gathering materials and currency to improve your properties. You’ll also have to manage the different amenities each property has, and the patrons’ resulting expectations.

PC players will also get an update that allows them to use a gamepad/controller with the game when the console version launches on September 15. The Nintendo Switch version will be available for $19.99.
