In Netflix’s Uncoupled, Neil Patrick Harris explores dating after 40

Neil Patrick Harris is set to return to TV screens on July 29 as the star of the Netflix original series, Uncoupled.

Created and executive produced by Darren Star (Sex and the City, Emily in Paris) and Jeffrey Richman (Modern Family, Fraser), the eight-part series will focus on Harris’ character Michael. Michael has been with his boyfriend for 17 years, and life felt perfect.

At least that’s what he thought. Until one day his boyfriend blindsides him by walking out the door. Leaving Michael to confront two nightmares — losing what he thought was his soulmate and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-40s in New York City.

Fortunately for Michael, he isn’t alone and his friends are more than willing to help — particularly his best friend Suzanne, played by Tisha Campbell. Other announced actors include André De Shields, Byron Jennings, Colin Hanlon, Dan Amboyer, Gilles Marini, Jai Rodriguez, Nic Rouleau, Peter Porte and Stephanie Faracy.

From there on out, Michael’s friends will introduce him back to the dating scene, meaning there will be lessons of Grindr, invitations to pity threesomes, and lots and lots of drinks. Will he find love and his happily ever after, or will Michael learn to direct the love he feels towards something else?

Uncoupled will premiere July 29 on Netflix.
