Blizzard partners with Twitch Rivals for Overwatch 2 Pride Showdown

On Thursday, Blizzard announced that it is partnering with Twitch Rivals to host a charity tournament in support of the Trevor Project called the Overwatch 2 Pride Showdown. The event will take place on July 12 from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. PDT via the Twitch Rivals Twitch channel and will have a $250,000 prize pool that will go towards the Trevor Project.

“Overwatch stands for inclusion, open-mindedness, and a world where everyone belongs and is celebrated for who they are,” Blizzard wrote in a blog post. “We’re incredibly proud to team up with Twitch Rivals to host the Overwatch 2 Pride Showdown in support of The Trevor Project, where we will be contributing $250,000 in support of this incredible LGBTQIA+ organization.”

Overwatch 2 Pride Showdown tournament format

Eight teams of five (each captained by an Overwatch streamer) will participate in this tournament. They will be split into two groups of four to compete in the group stage to kick off the event. Each team will play everyone in their group once on a Control map. From there, all of the teams will advance to the next stage, being seeded based on their placements during the group stage. The top two teams from each group will play in the upper bracket, while the bottom two teams from each group will play in the lower bracket.

The bracket stage will be single elimination, best-of-three matches. Teams will play a Push, a Hybrid, and an Escort map to determine who advances to the finals. The losing teams will play one more match to determine third place.
