Queer comic ‘The Homo Heroes’ saves the day this Pride

Just in time to celebrate Pride Month,ย The Homo Heroesย release Issue #6 of their LGBTQ+, action-packed comic book series.

โ€œIssue 6 of The Homo Heroes, โ€œThe Sensational Hunkโ€ is even more suspenseful than the previous five,โ€ says creator Todd Nunes. โ€œWe are moving towards the series conclusion, so tensions are high, storylines are charged, and the fight between good and evil โ€” while looking fabulous โ€” has never been more dire.โ€

The characters Nunes have created are just as larger-than-life as their mainstream superhero counterparts as they fight to keep the streets safe in crime-ridden and glamour-driven Starlight City. They are more than just sidekicks. They aim to save the world while showcasing the gay community as strong, brave, and courageous. They represent the LGBTQ+ community as powerful leaders.

The difference between the Homo Heroes and your run-of-the-mill comic book is that LGBTQ+ lifestyles, names, origins, and costumes, are integrated into the comic books, which includes being the target of homophobia. These are real role models for the modern world โ€” exactly what Reverend Righteous (The Homo Heroesโ€™ nemesis) is so desperately afraid of.ย
