Bright Gambit announces first five funded games

On Tuesday, independent game support initiative Bright Gambit announced the first five games it has funded. These games include Lonesome Village, Sanya, Orten Was the Case, Kredolis, and Grunnd.

Bright Gambit is a collective of games industry veterans founded in 2021 who have banded together to create a small, private investment initiative to provide more support for boutique style indie games. The team includes game developers, business developers, and even entertainment layers. According to Bright Gambit, developers that work with them don’t have to worry about the collective taking equity in their companies, taking publishing claims, taking creative control, or taking day one revenue share.

“Because of financial constraints, many studios are forced to give up a large percentage of their dream company in exchange for relatively small investments, before even having the chance to work on their first game. Bright Gambit aims to bridge this funding gap by helping teams gather relevant experience and build a portfolio, which will give them a fairer negotiation position if they wish to seek equity capital later on, for example,” a Bright Gambit representative said in a press release.

The first games the collective has put its support behind are largely focused on adventure mechanics and puzzle solving. Lonesome Village, by Mexican development team Ogre Pixel, is a “cozy, puzzle-filled life sim/adventure.” Helpnode’s Sanya is a 2D adventure game focused on “the warmth of fleeting childhood memories.” Kredolis from self-taught dev Pharos Interactive is a first person puzzle adventure on an island filled with contraptions players need to interact with during a mystical journey. SektaHouse’s Gruund is a “surrealist, Lynch-inspired” adventure game. And, finally, Orten Was the Case by Woodhill Interactive is a Groundhog Day style “detective/puzzle adventure game,” featuring a neighborhood based on the developer’s real-life childhood home.

Developers who are interested in submitting their games to Bright Gambit can contact the collective via their website.
