New Saints Row character creator looks to be its best yet
The new Saints Row has revealed its character creator – and it looks to be just as good, if not better, than the previous level of customization shown in earlier games.
In a customization showcase hosted by actress and host, Mica Burton, we got a 23-minute look at all of the different ways we can make our Boss – as well as our HQ, vehicles, weapons, and even crew – our very own.
We were first introduced to the character creator, where we got to see how you can style the Boss with a varied range of different shirts, pants, shoes, and even accessories. This was available in the previous games, but now players are able to change their Boss’ underwear, socks, and even full combos with what looks to be a new way to mix and match colours to suit your style.
The customization doesn’t stop there though. You’ll also get the option to customize your hair, eyebrow colour, face, teeth, ears, etc. If you want to change your body in any way, you seemingly can, and that includes muscle definition, fat, scars, skin texture, and even, hear us out, vein definition. Hell, you can even strive for a more fantastical look, with one example showcasing a Boss with elf ears and golden grills. Now a character creator that lets me make my tabletop characters? That’s definitely something I can get behind.
However, for the very first time in Saints Row history, you can create a face that isn’t all that asymmetrical – one eye can be higher than the other, and you can have blood on one side on your face, but the other is completely clean.
More importantly, there are a lot more diverse body options this time around, with prosthetics of all shapes and sizes being included, as well as vitiligo and other different skin textures. The best part though? None of these options is gender-locked and you can even pick your own voice and perform emotes and animations that reflect your Boss.
This level of customization goes double for your Boss’ HQ, crew, weapons and vehicles, with you being able to change the look of your crew to fit the image you’re looking for, to changing your baseball bat into a weapon of mass destruction: an umbrella.
