Ghostwire: Tokyo release date officially revealed
Ever since Ghostwire: Tokyo was first revealed, fans of everything horror and supernatural have been chomping at the bit for a release date. Now we’ve been given a definite date: March 25, 2022.
Tango Gameworks and Bethesda revealed the date for the upcoming action-adventure game via an official gameplay deep dive, uncovering new enemies, allies, and the unsettling, yet atmospheric Tokyo.
In Ghostwire: Tokyo we follow the protagonist Akito, a seemingly average, everyday man who gets pulled into the supernatural after a mysterious fog appears that causes the citizens of Tokyo to disappear into thin air. In their place are Visitors, spiritual entities that roam the streets in their different forms. Whether that be a headless school girl, an expressionless businessman, or something else entirely… They’re after blood.
However, Akito isn’t alone in his journey – he is joined by KK, a voice that educates him on the Ethereal Weaving – mystical arts which are highly effective against Visitors. Still, you’ll need to rely on your wits, skills, and integrity to survive.
The deep dive further dug into the intriguing characters that you’ll get to meet in your adventure. Some will be from Japanese legends, others folklore and tales, and some are new and unique stories. All of these different stories have inspired Tango Gameworks to develop the unusual creatures you encounter with loving care.
Tokyo itself will be a character that players can explore, where traversal of the ultra-modern cityscape will lead you to discover new things, such as secrets and iconic landmarks.
Players who venture away from the main storyline will also find charming characters – such as ghosts, who are much nicer spirits – in need of assistance. Helping someone in need is a reward enough of course, but you’ll also be able to exchange rare finds for some very generous rewards. It also looks as though side quests in Ghostwire: Tokyo will be more than your usual fare of fetch quests but rather something that’ll expand the game’s vision.
The release date of Ghostwire: Tokyo is March 25, 2022 and will be available worldwide for PS5 and PC. However, if you want to get the game a little earlier then you can pre-order the Deluxe Edition of Ghostwire: Tokyo from the PlayStation Store and will gain early access to the game, as well as DLC like the Streetwear Outfit Pack, Shinobi Outfit, and Kunai Weapon, on March 22, 2022.
