Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Festival presents Summer Wars watch party in London
As part of BFI’s 2021 Japan Season, Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Festival is celebrating Japanese film making over the last 100 years by presenting the anime film, Summer Wars on Thursday, December 2 at the Two Brewers in Clapham, London.
Summer Wars is a sci-fi film directed by Mamoru Hosoda, known for their work on The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. In Summer Wars, viewers will join the timid protagonist Kenji Koiso as he fights to clear his name, as well as against an artificial intelligence known as Love Machine.
Queer Gaymers have chosen to screen Summer Wars for their Japan Season to show support for the “underserved queer anime, manga, cosplay and nerd community, and communities within”. And guess what, Gayming Magazine will be teaming up alongside London Gaymers, and Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Festival to deliver this event. The most exciting thing ever? Yeah, we think so too!
The event will be paired with a pre-screening Q&A and post-screening video game tournament on Thursday, December 2nd, at South London queer venue, the Two Brewers.
