Final Fantasy X-3 could happen in the future

Final Fantasy X-3 has been something that fans of Tidus, Yuna and the other guardians that followed them on their journey throughout Spira – such as Lulu, Rikku and Kimahri – have wanted for a while now. Sure there was some sense of a happy ending in Final Fantasy X-2, but there’s still a lot of questions out there that fans want answers about. Answers which only Final Fantasy X-3 can give them.

And as it turns out, a new game following on from Yuna’s adventures with Rikku and Paine may not be all that impossible. According to RPGSite, and as reported on by various Japanese websites, Tetsuya Nomura, Final Fantasy X character designer and Square Enix developer that worked hard on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake has stated that the “plot itself does exist.”

His full statement was: “if we are to make X-3, we somehow have a synopsis written by Nojima-san. It’s sleeping right now, but the plot itself does exist.”

Kazushige Nojima – the scenario writer for the original Final Fantasy X – also added “I had the opportunity to work with people who entered the game industry after playing FF7. But now that phase has moved and now I’m going with people who entered after playing FFX.” This sounds awfully promising if you ask us.

Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 appealed to a lot of gaymers, particularly the sequel with the glitzy lights, the fashion, and the three queens known as Yuna, Rikku and Paine. While we doubt Final Fantasy X-3 will take on the camp, queer vibe that was in Final Fantasy X-2, simply because the audio drama included in the remasters seems to hint that Sin will return in the third game, we’d love for a more diverse cast of characters to be involved alongside our heroes.

Even so, this does not necessarily mean that Final Fantasy X-3 will happen. Even if it does, the team at Square Enix are hard at work on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the next Final Fantasy game coming out sometime in the next couple of years. With that in mind, we’ll have to be patient and wait and see.
