Andromeda Six – a sci-fi romance visual novel – debuts on Steam
I think I speak for everyone when I say that sci-fi is an inspiring setting for new ways to implement gender and sexuality. You’ve got your Mass Effect, Star Wars: The Old Republic and now Andromeda Six from Wanderlust Games to keep both your thirst for adventure and hot people thoroughly sated.
Set in the year 3025, you take on the role of the protagonist – the Traveler. You wake up on a starship called the Andromeda Six with no memory of your past. However, you don’t wake up alone. You find out you’re surrounded by a group of other outcasts too, each with their own reason for being there but all having one singular goal. And as you may have guessed, they’re all romanceable too.
As for you, well… You’re not a complete enigma. You have the option of playing as a male, female or non-binary Traveler, and get the option of picking a race out of three options: Human, Tilaari and Kitalphan. The Tilaari are described as a gentle and intelligent race, dedicated to things like medicine and nurturing life, whereas the Kitalphan are humanoids that can live on both land and water.
Originally released on itch.io, Andromeda Six is episodic, the format that Lunaris Games’ Errant Kingdom originally used. Its first episode was revealed back in late 2019, and ever since the developers have added episode after episode with the latest released back in February 2021. With it now being on Steam though, Wanderlust Games have given their sci-fi game a somewhat defined finish date: 2022 – not too long a wait at all!
