Boston Gaymers announce 24 hour charity stream to support Transgender Emergency Fund
Boston Gaymers, a social and community group for LGBTQ+ gamers in and around the Boston, Massachusetts area, is aiming to send its Pride month celebrations into orbit with a space-themed 24 hour charity livestream. Funds raised during the event will go to support the Transgender Emergency Fund, the only organisation dedicated to supporting low income and homeless Transgender individuals in Massachusetts, and specifically its plans to open a shelter.
“We chose the TEF because we recognise the importance and impact of TEF’s mission,” Boston Gaymers told Gayming Magazine. “Giving to TEF means we can help improve the lives of people in our local trans and queer community in a meaningful way.”
The group is aiming to raise at least $2,500 dollars for the charity. TEF’s Transitional Housing initiative has a broader goal to raise $200K in total to fully fund the planned shelter, so the more that Boston Gaymers raises, the closer TEF gets to helping more vulnerable trans people.
All of which is laudable – but what will the stream itself consist of?
“Viewers of the stream can expect to see a variety of streamers ranging from solo acts, to multiplayer gaming, to wacky shenanigans,” Boston Gaymers says. “Each streamer will be offering incentives to help drive donations that range from eating any flavor jellybeans to sacrificing themselves to MOBA towers. We will also be offering prizes throughout the stream for viewers, so be sure to tune in to get in on the fun.”
“We hope that you will come help us support TEF and raise some much needed funds for Trans people living in MA, while enjoying the games and hijinx.”
The stream kicks off on Friday 11 June, at 7pm EST (12am Saturday 12 June BST). Viewers can follow along on the Boston Gaymers Twitch channel.
