Abandoned Tomb Raider Remake Appears Online

We love a good femme fatale, don’t we? Well, there’s none better than Ms. Lara Croft herself… and the ass-kicker is making headlines again thanks to a long lost and abandoned remake that just appeared online.

Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary, a remake of the first game, was due to be released in 2006. However, developer Core Design abandoned the title with more devotion aimed towards finishing Tomb Raider: Legend, as well as pitches that never materialized. Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary would have debuted on Sony’s PSP if things went as planned, according to PCGamer.

Now, it exists as an alpha version that you can play online. According to sources, such as The Verge, the alpha contains all the landscapes and mechanics, which exist only without the inclusion of enemies. And while you can run, jump, climb and swim, the version also exists without dialogue.

Download the game at The Internet Archive and find patches and directions at Tomb of Ash to experience this unfinished game for yourself.

Before you head out, let me not forget to mention the craziest part of the story – that Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary was stripped and remarketed as an Indiana Jones game, which also failed to gain momentum.
