The Among Us sequel just got cancelled

Among Us has been the newest big hit on streaming platform Twitch, averaging at about 60 to 65k viewers per day – beating out games such as Apex Legends, Valorant, and Dead by Daylight. To say that it’s popular is an understatement and people are eager for an Among Us sequel.

For those who aren’t in the know, Among Us is a PC/Mobile game from developers InnerSloth where up to 10 players do tasks in order to win the game. The one thing stopping them, however, is an imposter – that can range from 1 to 3 people. Players who find the body can report it and call a meeting, where everyone questions each other to see who is the imposter and who isn’t.

It’s become so popular as time goes by that InnerSloth, who announced that they were working on Among Us 2 a whole month ago, have decided to cancel the sequel altogether. This may come as a shock to some avid players as InnerSloth have stated time and time again that it was easier to work on a new game than the first, because of having to mess with old code.

But no, Among Us 2 is officially cancelled. The reason behind it is simple: Among Us is doing incredibly well right now and, as their post on Steam states, “seeing how many people are enjoying Among Us 1 really makes us want to be able to support the game and take it to the next level.”

Features that they were working on for the Among Us sequel will instead be implemented into the first game. These are things such as colourblind support, a friends and account system, better severs, and a new map. Exciting stuff!

Among Us is available to purchase on Steam and can be downloaded for free on Android and iOS.
