Run through Boris Johnson in Nippon Marathon 2

2020 has been a year that, as most, sane people in the UK will tell you, is the year that we’ve all been exclaiming ‘what the hell is Boris doing?’ at least five times a week. Well, thanks to Onion Soup Interactive, we may be able to express our feelings for dear old Boris in the best way… But only if Nippon Marathon 2 gets funded on Kickstarter first!

Nippon Marathon 2’s Kickstarter has officially released today, and as you can see above, it mostly requires you breaking through walls, doors, and whatever else in order to get to the end of the race and win the competition.

It doesn’t matter where you are, or where the Marathon is based, nobody is safe. Especially if you’re in the Houses of Parliament. Why Houses of Parliament? As lead developer, Andy Madin explains, “the Nippon Marathon kicks off in London, [so] we just had to include the Houses of Parliament. I mean, who wouldn’t want to barge through PMQs dressed in a lobster onesie?”

The reason for this wild location is that, with so countries to choose from, Onion Soup Interactive has a playground of iconic places that they can use to make Nippon Marathon 2 a game to remember.

Here are just a few of the key features to whet your appetite!

  • New and improved cast of crazy characters
  • Minigames and Party Games return!
  • Touka Koukan (equivalent exchange) – Players’ “popularity score” will make or break you in the Nippon Marathon; everything influences your popularity, knocking over politicians = good, knocking over the Queen’s tea = bad!
  • Brand new courses set around the world including London, the USA, France and more!
  • Specific stats and animations for each character!

Currently, the game is only set to be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, and an exclusive arcade edition, but other platforms and console support are part of the stretch goals. You know what else is part of the stretch goals? Online mode, something that the game is sadly lacking at the moment. So, if you’re interested, back Nippon Marathon 2 on Kickstarter right now.
