Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is THICCer than Odyssey, actually

When Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was first announced, it was assumed that it would be a lot bigger than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. After all, isn’t bigger usually better? Well, that’s what some folks out there would have you believe, but let me tell you that isn’t the case…

Anyway. After Ubisoft’s head of communications in the Middle East tweeted (which, as Rock Paper Shotgun pointed out, has since been deleted) that “[Valhalla] won’t be the longest or biggest game in the series,” we’d assumed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would have a divide in length.

However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. In fact, thanks to an interview YouTuber Julien Chièze had Ubisoft producer, Julien Laferrière, we now know that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is “a bit larger than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.” The full quote, (via Rock Paper Shotgun) can be seen below.

“I would actually say in terms of range it is probably a bit larger than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. I do not have the exact figures at this stage, but we have not only created the whole country, which is in this case England, but also a good part of Norway too. There are other secret worlds, which I can not speak about today, which contributed to the size of the game. It’s not a small game. It is a game which is clearly ambitious, which will offer many, many hours of gameplay for the players.”

Whose ready to explore all of England and Norway? We know we are!

  • Odyssey was big enough, I actually was tired of exploring it and doing all the kill/fetch quests, so it’s good that it’s similar, but I expected smaller map with more interesting things to do.. I think Origins did it almost right.

  • I hope they don’t make it bigger for bigger’s sake. I prefer a richer world than a bigger world. That said, a big rich world is the best! 🙂
