Final Fantasy 7 Remake may arrive early for those in Europe and Australia

With the on-going COVID-19 crisis, there have been a number of games that have had some sort of delay. For Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing, physical releases of the game had been delayed, arriving days or, in some cases, a week later. It looks as though the Final Fantasy 7 remake won’t be any different in that regard in some places.

For Europe and Australia however, the Final Fantasy 7 remake may be appearing on your doorstep sooner than you first thought. This was first discovered by Eurogamer, who reported that a fan had received their copy of the game two days ago. This is way before the official release date of the game, April 10th.

Following these events, the official Final Fantasy 7 Twitter reached out to give an explanation on why some copies may be turning up a little early on European and Australian doorsteps.

“We had some hard decisions to make during the final few weeks before launch due to disruption to distribution channels caused by the spread of the COVID-19 virus. These unique circumstances have made it very difficult to align timing of our global shipping. Our highest priority is that all of you, including those who live in countries currently facing the biggest disruption, can play the game at launch.” The statement continued, “So we made the decision to ship the game earlier than usual to Europe and Australia.”

Be that as it may, Square Enix also stated in this Twitter post that they didn’t wish for people to spoil others. Whether that’s possible with how big, abrasive and loud the internet can be, is a different story entirely.
