The Last of Us 2 nudity and sexual content has been confirmed

The Last of Us was always a gritty, nitty, game where you could get murdered by the infected, humans who have given way to virus that’s spread across the world, or survivors who are willing to do anything to live. Which is why The Last of Us 2 nudity and sexual content being confirmed doesn’t really surprise us. What’s more nitty and gritty than sex, are we right?

Sarcasm aside, this news comes from the official rating given by The Last of Us 2’s website. There it has been given an M rating for blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, sexual content, strong language, and use of drugs.

While a few of these things was to be expected, such as the violence, nudity and sexual content is pretty new. After all, The Last of Us was more about Joel protecting a younger Ellie and getting her to one place from another. Well, along with some dad angst and intense, bloody violence.

Naughty Dog has mentioned that they want to tell a story that’s driven by love, and while that could easily mean the love Ellie and Joel feel for one another, most theories assume that this will be about the relationship between Ellie and her new girlfriend, Dina.

Of course, that speculation leads to some very troubling thoughts for queer audiences. After all, the bury your gays trope is something that Naughty Dog has already used back during the first game’s DLC with Ellie’s friend, Riley.

Not only has it been theorized that Dina will die, but now some are concerned that sexual violence will be a huge part of it. We have no real confirmation of course, so take this with a pinch of salt. However, with Naughty Dog’s past record of LGBT relationships, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t worried.

The Last of Us 2 releases on PS4, May 29th.
