Relive 2004 with the rebooted platformer, Spirit of Glace

If you cast your mind back to 2004, you may just remember Glace, the freeware platformer that may have reminded you of the older Zelda games. It was quite a successful game, having over 1.5 million downloads from gamers all over the world. With it being such a success, it’s no real surprise that Spirit of Glace will be making an appearance sometime in the future.

Spirit of Glace looks to be embracing the nostalgia back when it first released, making the classic 80’s gaming look for a contemporary audience that’s more than willing to jump back in and give the game some more of their time.

After all, in this game you’ll be playing as a cute, small creature who suddenly blinks into existence and must find purpose in a world torn apart by a mysterious force. Who doesn’t want to jump back into a story that lets you play as a small blob?

The creator and lead developer of Spirit of Glace, Tommy Visic, has said that “it’s been so much fun hearing from fans of the game over the years, and I always wanted to go back and revisit the world of Glace.” He continued, “I can’t express how honored I am to learn there’s still a community of players who love Glace and want to rally behind the new project. I draw so much inspiration from them.”

In Spirit of Glace, there will be a strong emphasis on story, lore, and attention to detail so that you’ll be able to explore a world that’s full of life, wild legends and detailed history.

But if you’re just here to kick butt and take names, you’ll be pleased to know that there will be a variety of features to keep combat interesting. There will be a rewind mechanic that encourages you to take earned powers and game state to the next playthrough where you’ll experience new story elements and higher levels of challenge. You’ll also have the opportunity to attack your foes with weapons that are just plain fun to use, like talking magical beads that shoot out, bounce around, and zip back to you.
