The PS5 Logo is underwhelming – the memes about it are not

Logos have never really been our thing here at Gayming Magazine. We’re far more interested in the actual product. But even we’re left scratching our heads at the PS5 logo that was just unveiled at CES 2020.

It’s not that it’s bad, it gets the job done, but there isn’t much creativity in there, right? It’s not all that sexy. It’s just. There. Existing.

Whatever, it’s not sexy. But we shouldn’t have been expecting too much anyway. The PS logo has always been pretty barebones, so it’s no real surprise that this new logo is the same and thus, remains underwhelming. We really shouldn’t have expected any different.

But hey, look on the bright side, reader. As Eurogamer rightly pointed out, while the logo may be underwhelming, the memes about it certainly aren’t.

Jokes aside, the PS5 hasn’t had the best of times thanks to a number of different leaks and rumours that have been posted online. It was only a few months ago that the apparent design for the console, as well as the Dualshock controller, was posted on a number of different social media sites.

There have also been rumours about backwards compatibility on the PS5 working with older PS games, such as the PS1 and PS2. That has yet to be confirmed, but we’re remaining optimistic.

What are your thoughts on the PS5 logo? Underwhelmed, or do you just not get why everyone’s making a big deal of it?
