Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet starring It’s Always Sunny creator Rob McElhenney, gets its first trailer

Game development has always been a slippery slope in this industry. Mostly due to the overwhelming amount of crunch, harassment – sexual or otherwise – and an imbalance of power. Making Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet, a show about a narcissistic game developer, especially a comedy, may make it seem to be that of poor taste.

But poor taste, in comedy or otherwise, has never stopped Rob McElhenney, the creator behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In this show, McElhenney plays the creative lead behind a game studio that’s developing a game called Mythic Quest. This Mythic Quest is not to be confused with that Final Fantasy game, so if you were excited about that, don’t be.

To be fair to the show, the first trailer does show how terrible working under a conceited power is like. One of the first lines we hear from McElhenney’s character is how ‘this game has something that no one else will: me.’

McElhenney isn’t just going to be acting either, but alongside Megan Ganz, writes for the show. Charlie Day, who plays Charlie in It’s Always Sunny, is also a part of the show as a co-writer and co-executive. With him, Ganz and McElhenney taking on this show, we’re sure that there’s going to be more than a few laughs throughout.

But there will also be a fair few of familiar faces. Fans of Ashly Burch will be happy to hear that she’ll be a part of the show, and if you’re a lover of Community then Danny Pudi is going to be a winner for you.

Mystic Quest: Raven’s Banquet will premier on Apple TV Plus on February 7th. As of now, it is only available for Apple TV users.
