Just Dance Memories Campaign raises £60k for dementia research

Only last month did Ubisoft and Alzheimer’s Research UK announce that they had joined forces to launch their Just Dance Memories campaign. The two organizations had come together in order to protect the memories that the game (Just Dance) helps create between families.

How Just Dance Memories works is that, using social media Twitter, people are able to put their pictures or videos of them dancing, using the hashtag #JustDanceMemories in order to show they are supporting the campaign. For each RT of a picture or video being used within that tag, Ubisoft UK will donate a pound to the campaign, up to £30,000.

But that goal has been shot out of the water thanks to public support, which reached the 30k target within one week of the campaign’s official launch. In answer to that, Ubisoft has doubled the fundraising pledge to £60,000 – which again, was hit almost a week later.

The two organizations had also released a campaign film, which features Alzheimer’s Research UK supporter, Lynne Wadsworth, and her mum, Anne Bath. Anne is in the late stages of dementia and is no longer able to communicate. But her love for dancing still brings her enjoyment, which goes to show how powerful Just Dance is.

Once the campaign has ended, the money raised will be used by the UK’s leading dementia research charity in order to fund the research necessary to better understand Alzheimer’s and how it affects people.

It’s a worthy goal, and if you want to find out more on how to help then you can find out more here.
