Gayming Magazine Game of the Year Revealed

Earlier this December we canvassed our contributors to pull together a shortlist for our Game of the Year. Then, we threw open the vote to you, our magnificent readers, to decide who would be our Game of the Year.

Over 140 of you voted and the winner is…

Yes, narrowly beating Fire Emblem: Three Houses, it’s The Outer Worlds!

The Outer Worlds is a single-player, first-person, sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division.

Lost in transit while on a colonist ship, bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony.

As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.

We love The Outer Worlds for many reasons but one big LGBTQ in particular, there is a fully rounded and authentically represented asexual character present in the cast. We fell in love with Pavarti and Elizabeth wrote more about her and her portrayal in this great article.

Pavarti is voiced by the awesome Ashly Burch who has given voice to many other LGBTQ women in games. Check out our exclusive interview with Ashly to learn more.

The Outer Worlds is available now on PC, Xbox One and PS4, while a Switch version is due in 2020.
