Murder by Numbers, a 90’s-themed detective game is coming to PC and Switch in 2020
What if someone gave you the option to play a game that combines the minds behind video games such as Hatoful Boyfriend, The Swords of Ditto, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney? You’d jump to play it, right? Well, look no further because Murder by Numbers, a new 90’s themed detective game, is just the game you’re looking for.
From developer Mediatonic and publisher The Irregular Corporation, Murder by Numbers puts you in the shoes of Honor Mizrahi, an actress on a wildly popular detective show. Only, things are about to get very real when it comes to the whole ‘detective’ thing she has going on.
Set in Los Angeles, 1996, Honor’s life gets turned upside down when she discovers her boss has just been brutally murdered. The catch? She finds him only minutes after she’s been fired, which already puts her in the limelight.
As you would expect, Honor’s pleads of innocence are met with complete disbelief from a number of different individuals. Of course, this just means that Honor must step away from being a TV detective and into being a real one. Thankfully, she has a small robot called SCOUT who is more than willing to assist with clearing her name.
Players will have to investigate a range of cases and unearth clues with SCOUT’s sensors, cracking hidden nonograms and piecing together proof one pixel at a time. Then they’ll use that evidence to interrogate weird and wonderful characters across TV studios, glitzy award shows, drag clubs, and more as you seek to uncover an overarching story of conspiracy, deception and, you guessed it, murder.
