The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer is a no-go
I unfortunately never had the chance to try the first Last of Us multiplayer. Well, back when the multiplayer was actually used a lot. With The Last of Us Remastered coming to October’s PS Plus, the chance to play it with people may actually happen! But The Last of Us 2 multiplayer?
Yeah, that’s a no-go. Despite how much fans were excited for potentially getting to murder and bash the brains out of some undead baddies, it has been confirmed by USGamer that multiplayer is, in fact, a pipe dream.
USGamer was told this information in an interview with Naughty Dog Lead Game Designer Emilia Schatz, which was later on confirmed by Sony.
While this news may be disappointing, as Emma Schatz told Eurogamer, “we’re focusing on a single-player experience, so we’re just making a single-player game for this.” With that in mind, it makes sense for the focus to only be on single-player.
However, it does come as somewhat of a surprise since The Last of Us 2 was previously stated to actually include multiplayer back when Naughty Dog talked about the game during E3, 2018. Whether it was being worked upon, or was scrapped entirely, we’re not certain as of yet.
It’s a shame that it won’t be happening for The Last of Us 2, especially as in the previous game you were split into factions of survivors that had the fun ol’ objective of killing each other. Considering how prominent factions are in this new game, we’re a little sad that we won’t get to see how factions will work in multiplayer.
In other news, The Last of Us 2 will be on two blu-ray discs due to how large the scope is of the game. So make sure to clear some space!
