Gay Esports athlete SonicFox wins Mortal Kombat 11 championship
Could Esports get much gayer than this?! Esports athlete Dominique McLean, better known as SonicFox, won the CEO 2019 Mortal Kombat 11 championship in an awesome all-gay grand final on the last day of Pride Month! To increase the awesomeness further, SonicFox then went on to gift his medal to a young fan.
True to form, SonicFox entered the arena to Sardonyx’s Theme from the pro-LGBTQ cartoon Steven Universe dressed in his fox fursuit.
An early stumble in the competition saw him fall into the losers bracket but he then swiftly smashed his way through the bracket, not losing a set to end up in an all-gay final with fellow pro Ryan “Dragon” Walker, someone he lost to earlier in the competition.
Losing the opening set of the championship match playing as Jacqui Briggs, Sonic quickly switched back to his ‘Yaas Queen’ variation Cassie and then proceeded to win three straight victories to take the championship belt.
This was SonicFox’s first victory in the 2019 Mortal Kombat Pro Kompetition and he has widened the gap at the top of the league standings.
Increasing representation in Esports is something we love to see and all-gay final is truly something amazing. Ryan “Dragon” Walker tweeted “I lost the gay battle today. Will get more gayer for the next one so watch out!”.
The night got even more amazing though when SonicFox gave his medal away to a young fan, something he had promised to do last year when he gave the same fan his 5th place medal in last year’s DragonBall FighterZ tournament, promising him he would get him a first place medal in 2019.
