Critique-al Hit: Meet Café Cultivar
“Comuidad, Change, Charity.” That’s the vision of Café Cultivar, a Latine/Hispanic Discord space and Twitch Stream Team with a mission to provide a safe space for Latine and Hispanic content creators where they cultivate a community and elevate their collective voices to bring forth change.
Café Cultivar was founded by Ashlinaa in 2022. The team goal has always been to uplift and unify voices in the Latine/Hispanic community and ensure everyone gets a seat at the table.
Oftentimes those seats are at the literal gaming table in the form TTRPGs. From D&D and Pathfinder to Blue Rose and Pasión de las Pasiones, the members of Café Cultivar get up to loads of TTRPG shenanigans for both fun and for charity.
They have a solid group of video gamers as well. Many of whom are involved with the Twitch Latin Guild. There are several LGBTQIA+ members of Café Cultivar and the team celebrates them all year long, not just during Pride.
Kaelena (she/her) is a Bisexual, neurodiverse, charity focused Twitch partner. She is currently streaming games like Baldur’s Gate 3, REKA, Palia, and Stardew Valley while raising funds for The American Cancer society via the charity platform Tiltify.
NightshadeGrim (she/her) is an LGBTQIA+, Latina variety streamer. She’s most recently been playing games like Valorant and Lethal Company. She is also an Ubisoft Creator and one of the team leads for Cafe Cultivar.
ItsMeBriar (they/them) is the community manager for Café Cultivar and they are an LGBTQIA+, Latina, disabled Navy veteran with AuDHD. They play games like Baldur’s Gate 3 and The Elder Scrolls Online. ItsMeBriar is also the DM for a Wild Beyond the Witchlight D&D campaign and co-founded the BriarHartRPG Twitch channel.
SpicedEliastrations (she/they) is an LGBTQIA+ cartoonist, illustrator, and Twitch co-working streamer. She is a member of the My Primos Podcast where they discuss all things pop culture from a Latine perspective and they also are a part of the Drawin’ Disasters duo on YouTube. You can catch Spice next week on Hello_Kiwwii’s Twitch channel playing a luchadora-inspired Fire Genasi Monk named Xiomara in a D&D 5e game featuring the Journey Through the Radiant Citadel adventure.
ArrTeaSee (she/her) Queer, Latine, Gif Making, Plush Artist who loves to stream indie games and demos. Lately she’s been playing through game demos such as Alpine Like, Choppy Cuts, and Bee Welcome! over on her YouTube channel.
Café Cultivar has cultivated a beautiful community of people from all over the world. Uplifting marginalized voices is important every day, not just any given month where a heritage is celebrated.
