Good Omens is officially getting a third season
On Thursday, Amazon Prime announced that it has greenlit a third season of its Good Omens television adaptation.
“We are ineffably elated to confirm that Good Omens will return for a third season,” the Good Omens account tweeted. “This calls for a round of hot chocolate and sweet treats!”
The Amazon Prime Good Omens show is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, first published back in May, 1990. In the novel, we follow a devil (Crowley) and an angel (Aziraphale) who were tasked with delivering the children who would grow up to be the next anti-Christ and Savior. Unfortunately, there’s a mix-up during the deliveries, and now both are uncertain of which child is actually which. They keep this secret for as long as they can, but things start getting complicated as the kids become teenagers. It doesn’t help anything that Armageddon is on the horizon, and both beings have become fairly attached to living on Earth.
Amazon’s version of Good Omens follows the same basic premise, but gets to dive a bit more into the characters’ daily lives given its series format. Crowley is played by Dr. Who’s David Tenant, while Aziraphale is portrayed by Michael Sheen. Other big names in the show include Benedict Cumberbatch as Satan and John Hamm as Gabriel.
Amazon did not announce a release date for the third season of Good Omens, so fans will have to stay tuned to see when those details come out.
