Stardew Valley dev announces Haunted Chocolatier
ConcernedApe, the developer behind massively successful farming game Stardew Valley, has just announced their new game: Haunted Chocolatier. ConcernedApe’s Haunted Chocolatier, to be exact.
Stardew Valley has become a beloved game, selling 15 million copies in the space of just 5 years. No easy feat, and the multiplayer update certainly helped, but it does go to show how incredibly dedicated the community for ConcernedApe’s farming game is.
Well, now we’ve got a new game to eye up. In a blog post about the new game, ConcernedApe (also known as Eric Barone) mentions that if “Stardew Valley mostly channeled the energy of the sun, Haunted Chocolatier channels the energy of the moon. Both are vital.”
Sounds pretty spooky if you ask us, but according to Barone we shouldn’t expect to see anything that’ll curdle our blood or make us scared, even if the setting does feature ghosts in a haunted castle. As far as they are concerned, Haunted Chocolatier will be a gaming experience that is “positive, uplifting and life-affirming” in the same vein as Stardew Valley was.
As for what the game will be about… That’s still very much up in the air. ConcernedApe has some ideas down – players will be creating chocolate, and that may mean scavenging around for the ingredients, and running a chocolate shop – but they are loathe to mention the details because the game is still in development. They don’t want to put solid details down now, only to change their mind later.
What’s most important is that they want to create a fun game. And who doesn’t want to play a game from the mind behind Stardew Valley? It’s still early days for the game yet, but consider us very excited!
