Glass Hearts is an adult yaoi/BL game set in a mental health hospital

Glass Hearts is a yaoi/BL game that has a premise we’ve never heard of before: a game about a protagonist who, after being falsely accused of a crime, is sent to be punished by his superiors by being forced into a mental health hospital. Or for those who want to get past that jargon, a psychiatric center called The Long River.

Players follow the protagonist Kai Song (Song Kai) and his journey from the breadwinner of his family to the descent of being accused of a crime he didn’t commit. Along the way, you’ll meet Kai’s friends, doctors, and even a quiet, but haunted-looking boy called Moyu Lin (Lin Moyu). As far as Glass Hearts Kickstarter tells us, Moyu is (currently) your only love interest.

A psychiatric center isn’t the worst setting we’ve ever heard of people falling in love, though we hope that developers AedianGlair will be doing their due research on this and instead not try to romanticize mental illness and the effect on people, even if they fall in love or not.

A yaoi/BL game Glass Hearts may be, but that’s not all that it has going for it. There are going to be some difficult decisions to be made, and some may even mean screwing over the people you love the most. But in this psychological thriller, those are just the breaks and you’ll need to get used to it, or face the consequences.

Glass Hearts is currently on Kickstarter, and as of publishing this article, is now 100% backed. However, there are some further goals that AedianGlair have laid out for fans of the game. The only goal revealed now is that Kai will get another romantic interest, a mischievous boy called Xiuyang and that there will be unique endings. That sounds pretty tasty, and with a few more days to go – an entirely possible goal!
