Minecraft User Builds Gay Pride Castle For Struggling Friend
One of the best features of online gaming is the ability to connect with other players around the world. It allows users to maintain relationships in other countries and with other beliefs; relationships that transcend gaming and spur a tremendous sense of comradery.
Coming out to your family and wondering if you’ll be accepted by your loved ones is perhaps one of the hardest aspects of being gay. No one knows that more than 18-year-old Reddit user Cultist101 (real name: Jordan). The England native was brave and honest with his family, resulting in many hurt feelings and the threat of moving him out of the house to live with his grandmother. Jordan struggled with this confrontation and shared it with his friend Joel.
Jordan and Joel have been friends for over four years after meeting online during their time playing Grand Theft Auto. The duo found they had many similar interests outside of video games and have kept in touch ever since. Joel was distraught over learning his buddy was rejected by his family, and thought of ways to cheer him up and show support.
The buddies are frequent Minecraft players on the XBox console, and Joel went to work revamping one of his castles into becoming a Gay Pride monolith. Adorned with rainbow banners, flags and spotlights, Joel worked tirelessly to surprise Jordan with the new version of his castle. After many duplications, he sat back and waited for his friend to sign on.
Needless to say, the surprise was met with tears of gratitude from Jordan, and hundreds of positive comments from the gaming community on Reddit. You can read all of their reactions on the thread featured below. Well done, Joel and brighter days are ahead, Jordan.
