Bitter Silver – a queer indie love letter to Cowboy Bebop
In Bitter Silver, you play as bounty hunter Lucia Lopez in this choice-driven, space western visual novel as you track down bounties with your misfit crew. The game is currently in Kickstarter and has a demo to play on Steam.
Described as one-part love letter to Cowboy Bebop, one-part homage to the Telltale Games series and one-part tribute to the comic Saga, the creators of Bitter Silver are aiming to make a game that is influenced by the spirit, mechanics and character development of these awesome titles.
You are Lucia Lopez – a charismatic, down-on-her-luck, ex-solider turned bounty hunter, tracking down bounties hoping to find the long-awaited answers to a shocking curse plaguing your life.
Aboard your ship, the Athena, is Zap Matters, your pansexual half-human, half-alien partner-in-crime (and lover), and Hobbes, the team’s resident tech expert who happens to be a robotic talking cat.
Bitter Silver takes players on a journey to a backwater planet at the fringes of the Milky Way to track down the final three bounties standing between Lucia and the answers they’ve been seeking all their life.
The game’s mechanics allow you to choose a background for Lucia which affects the choices you can make throughout the story and the relationships between you and your crew. Your actions, both big and small, will branch the story from beginning to end, including unlocking parts of the story only available from each backstory. This means that no two playthroughs will ever be alike!
When you’re not out being the best god damn bounty hunter in the galaxy, you get to hang out with your crew to get to know them better and build your relationship with each one. Will your relationship with Zap be more romantic, platonic or a mix? Do you push back or give into Hobbes’ nerdy behavior?
Alongside the action, treat your ears to a bebop score. Enjoy listening to an original soundtrack full of jazz, blues, and folk-inspired music to get you in the spirit of our intergalactic bounty hunters. You can’t have a proper space western without a kickass score to back it up!
