Date Like Goblins: Go on dates in your favorite video games
Date Like Goblins lets people go on dates in their favorite video games while voice chatting. The platform just launched in Kickstarter today and is incredibly LGBTQ+ friendly, safe and fun!
Traditional dating apps favor the conventionally attractive and neurotypical, resulting in a soul-crushing cycle of surface-level lust-fishing and insincere, fleeting encounters. With traditional apps needing an average of 4,000 swipes to book 6 first dates, Date Like Goblins provides a refreshing alternative to the tired, homogenous swipe-match-message user experience.
Date Like Goblins is for the introverts, neurodivergent, and the perpetual third wheels who know their person is out there, they’re just having a hard time finding them.
If dating isn’t your thing but you still want to meet people to game with, then activate Game Like Goblins mode which provides you with a friend finder instead.
As you sign up for the service, you create your Goblin profile. They’re web-based to begin with, but mobile apps are in the pipeline.
As you sign up, you can choose your preferred Match Mode – Human: photos always visible on profile; Halfling: Photos are only shown until you express interest (or not); or 100% Goblin: For the purest of Goblin hearts. Post no photos, see no photos, it’s all about personality and connection!
Choose your availability and how much notice you want ahead of scheduled gaming dates, then use variety of filters (age, gender, etc), keywords, or D&D alignment to search for Goblins you’re interested in (romantically or otherwise!).
Once you’re matched, you can seamlessly choose when and what game you’ll be playing together. At the scheduled time, hop into the selected game and voice chat with your Goblin date!
At launch, Goblins can meet in the games below (PC and Mac unless specified):

- Final Fantasy XIV
- Escape Simulator
- Magic the Gathering
- Board Game Arena
- PowerWash Simulator (PC only)

More games will come available after launch based on community feedback.
Date Like Goblins has quietly been in closed beta for the very first waitlist sign-ups to ensure the user experience is optimized and all bugs are tackled! Join the Goblins Discord if you’d like to find out more about the Beta and be the first to hear about new exciting things.
The Kickstarter has just gone live and backers will get access as soon as September 30th. Alternatively, Goblins can also join the waitlist for the public launch towards the end of the year.
By pledging to the campaign, OGs (original Goblins) will get first-entry to the platform, a locked-in membership rate, and for the highest tier, gratis access to any and all premium features in perpetuity.
Backer levels include:
- DTF (down to fund) – $10 for unlimited access through 2024
- FWB (friends with benefits) – $30 for unlimited access through June 2025
- Situationship – $60 for unlimited access through December 2025
- Everlasting Goblin – Lifetime access is available for $100 for the first 500 backers and $120 after those 500 spots are filled
