Assassin’s Creed Shadows name confirmed and first look teased
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has long been known as Assassin’s Creed Red, but ahead of the game’s first trailer arriving tomorrow (May 15th) the name change has been confirmed by Ubisoft.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the first Assassin’s Creed game to be set in Feudal Japan. The game was previously teased way back in September 2022 during the very first brand showcase dedicated to the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
IGN reported that before today’s announcement, two leaks about the project were spotted last year. The first one was in July when a Ubisoft employee updated their LinkedIn page to reveal that Codename Red would be released sometime in 2024. A second leak was spotted in late October when a senior writer at Ubisoft accidentally uploaded a photo of the protagonist for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.
We also know that, like Shadows’ predecessor Mirage, this game will not be a huge 150-hour RPG in Ubisoft’s new direction for the series. It’s fair to say that Mirage divided fans on its length and simplicity, despite the large price tag. So, let’s see how this turns out!
Tune in for Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ full reveal on May 15th at 9AM PT / 5PM BST on the Official Ubisoft channel: youtube.com/@Ubisoft
