Nintendo announces new Pokémon Presents video to celebrate Pokémon Day 2024

On February 20, Nintendo announced that in honor of Pokémon Day 2024 it will release a new Pokémon Presents video on February 27 at 6 a.m. PST. The video will premiere on the official Pokémon YouTube channel at that time, but fans will be able to check it out at any point after.

“Did somebody say #PokemonPresents? 👀,” the Pokémon Twitter account posted. “Tune in to our official YouTube channel at 6:00 a.m. PST on February 27th to view exciting Pokémon news in celebration of #PokemonDay 2024! 🎉 See you there, Trainers!”

So far, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have been coy about what specifically they plan to show during this edition of Pokémon Presents. The announcement tweet only says that the video will show fans “exciting Pokémon news,” and the official press release only says that it will provide the “latest news and updates from the world of Pokémon.”

During the August 2023 Pokémon Presents video, The Pokémon Company gave information about its various esports endeavors, Detective Pikachu Returns, The Pokémon Horizons animated series, various Pokémon GO Fest events, plans for Pokémon Unite, Pokémon Cafe ReMix, new additions to Nintendo Switch Online, updates on Pokémon Sleep, as well as updates on future events and the DLC content for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Since that content has now fully released, we can probably expect something a bit different for the Pokémon Presents video on February 27. There will surely still be some kind of Scarlet & Violet content in store, but it will probably have more to do with in-game events, raids, and Pokémon GO tie-ins.

Because the music in the beginning of the video The Pokémon Company posted on Twitter seems to be from the games’ GameBoy era, some fans are speculating that part of the upcoming showcase may be an announcement that the first generation Pokémon games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online.
