Safe in Our World, ID@Xbox and Take This join Whitethorn Games for the upcoming Whitethorn Winter 2024 Showcase

Whitethorn Games, a publisher of inclusive, independent, and accessible games, announced today that three positive gaming initiatives would join them for their upcoming Whitethorn Winter 2024 Showcase: ID@Xbox, Take This, and Safe in Our World.

The ID@Xbox Developer Acceleration Program is an initiative that helps boost and highlight underrepresented creators with the resources and information needed to help bring their creativity and uniqueness to everything Xbox. This can be by providing mentorship, financial support, and even technical resources — all to help break down barriers and ensure that developers have the tools and opportunities needed to thrive in game development.

Take This was the very first mental health non-profit to be in the service of the gaming community. Since 2012, their mission has been to educate others on the mental health challenges that many can face in gaming spaces, and offer support. The initiative does this by supporting game players, developers, and content creators with resources, research, and information that can help them feel more secure.

Since 2019, Safe in Our World has been dedicated to promoting positive mental health and well-being for contributors to the gaming industry, which includes players, developers, publishers, retailers, and even us game journalists. No matter who you are in the games industry, Safe in Our World wants to educate and help bring transformative change to the industry’s culture and does so by serving as a go-to resource for those dealing with mental health issues.

Taking place on February 8 at 1:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PST on Whitethorn Games’ YouTube, Twitch, and Steam Page, these industry leaders (alongside Whitethorn Games) will share their ongoing efforts to amplify marginalized and underrepresented voices within game development. They’ll also share how they are helping to create accessible spaces for their players, as well as foster mental health awareness.

“We’re thrilled for the opportunity to join with ID@Xbox, Safe In Our World, and Take This to showcase our commitment to making this industry a wider, more welcoming, more inclusive place for everyone,” said Matthew White, CEO of Whitethorn Games. “Together, we are shaping a future where every voice is heard, every player is represented, and the gaming experience is enriched for all.”

Whitethorn Games has been a consistent publisher of games focusing on underrepresented voices, such as Lake, Calico, Teacup, and so much more.
