Arcane season 2 is officially premiering in November
On January 5, the Arcane Twitter account announced that Arcane season 2 is officially coming out in November 2024.
“A nightmarish augmentation,” the tweet reads. “Brace yourself for #Arcane Season 2, coming this November.”
Arcane is an animated series created by Riot Games based on its League of Legends/Runeterra universe that is hosted on Netflix. It follows the story of two sisters, Vi and Powder, who grow up to fight on opposing sides in the conflict between the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun. As we follow their journeys, we also meet other League of Legends/Runeterra characters including Heimerdinger, Jayce, Jinx, Ekko, Caitlyn and more.
There’s discord over conflicting ideologies about magical technology and clashing ideologies vying to control the cities.
Piltover is the “city of progress,” advancing technology with the invention of hextech. But like any new technology, it has its own dangers, and those in power are vying to control something they barely understand. The citizens and rulers are looking to protect themselves and their city, regardless of the consequences, as unrest builds in the Undercity as well.
This Undercity, Zaun, lies beneath Piltover, and serves as its shadow. The streets and alleys are filled with danger and desire, but there’s a hopeful heart at the city’s core. In the age of hextech, the citizens of Zaun are looking to create new lives for themselves, looking upwards as they do so.
At the end of Arcane’s first season, the future of Zaun’s independence is hanging on a cliff’s edge, so Arcane season 2 will presumably pick up where that left off, eventually expanding into the impact of the cast’s actions on the two cities going forward. We will likely also be introduced to more characters from the world Runeterra in this upcoming season, though it’s anyone’s guess as to who all may show up.
