REBEL MOON – Part I will debut on Netflix in December
On Sunday, Netflix announced that Zack Synder’s upcoming two-part film series, REBEL MOON, will debut with its first half on the streaming service on December 22, 2023. The cast is huge and diverse, and even features acting legend Anthony Hopkins as the voice of Jimmy, Jena Malone of Donnie Darko and The Hunger Games fame, and previous Zack Snyder collaborator Ray Fisher.
In REBEL MOON – Part I: A Child of Fire, a woman named Kora (played by Sofia Boutella) crash lands on a remote moon in the far reaches of the universe. She becomes a part of the local, peaceful farming community, only to become its protector when it comes to light that the farmers unwittingly sold crops to an insurgent group on the moon called the Bloodaxes. The regent of the moon doesn’t take this well and aims to destroy the settlement, so it’s up to Kora and a naive farmer named Gunnar to find help to protect their home from the tyrannical, military government. Like any good sci-fi story, they travel to various different worlds to build a small army, assembling a rag-tag crew of warriors seeking redemption.
The second film is called REBEL MOON – Part II: The Scargiver and will release on Netflix April 19, 2024.
