Stray Gods Romance Guide: All of the romance options in Stray Gods

Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical comes from Obsidian and BioWare alumni, so there should be no doubt in your mind that it has plenty of romance options on offer for protagonist Grace.

As Grace, a college dropout who gets saddled with the powers of a Muse after her predecessor dies in her arms, players are thrust into a secret world where the Greek gods and creatures walk among us. There’s just one problem: Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, believes that she took her new powers by force, and has sentenced her to death. Grace only has a week to find out the truth of what happened before she faces the metaphorical (and literal) sword.

As daunting as that may sound, Grace doesn’t have to face these dangers by herself. Not only will she be able to make friends, but there’s even the chance to get closer to a special someone – and yes, that does include even having your very own romantic ‘song’ together. We do love a good romantic song.

But who are these intriguing romance options and what makes them so special?

Be warned, there will be spoilers for Stray Gods ahead.

Freddie Stray Gods

Freddie

Freddie is Grace’s best friend since forever, having stuck by her side from the very beginning. Having recently become part of Freddie’s band – Edge of Elysium – Grace and her best gal pal are slowly trying to make their way through life. However, after Grace’s life suddenly turns upside down, Freddie’s intelligence and love of all things Greek mythology are put to the ultimate test.

As a romance option, Freddie is the ‘friends-to-lovers’ trope that we all know and love. She’s kind, but knows when to call bullsh*t out when she sees it. More importantly, she has Grace’s back through thick and thin. Also? Excellent taste in hats. If any of that appeals to you, Freddie is your gal.

To romance Freddie you’ll need to choose the heart options when they show up. There is also a certain stage in the game where you must choose to either let Freddie go or not. Choose not to, and you will be able to complete Freddie’s romance route.

Stray Gods Romance Options

Pan

If what you know of Pan is nothing good, then congratulations, you’ll be happy to know that Pan in Stray Gods is also aware of his reputation and plays into it as often as he can. Does that mean it’s true: that Pan is in fact a sneaky, good-for-nothing rascal that’s only job is to leave you astray? Not exactly, and for those looking to romance him, you’ll find that there’s more there than meets the eye.

As a romance option, Pan may not be around Grace as much as Apollo and Persephone, but when he is there? Expect fireworks. He’s cunning, but there is a kindness to Pan that, if nothing else, feels genuine and sincere. He’s a little complex, okay? Much like a scared animal, you’ll need to coax the real Pan out from hiding.

To romance Pan, you’ll need to pick all of the heart options whenever they show up in your conversations. You’ll also need to stick up for Pan whenever possible, as there will be plenty of characters who will warn you not to trust him.

Apollo

Apollo may look as though he’s your average surfer dude, but underneath that rock-hard body is the epitome of a sad, wet kitten whose been left out in the rain for too long. If that sounds appealing to you, then Apollo may be just the man for you. He does give big ‘fix me’ energy, after all.

As a romance option, Apollo is somewhat preoccupied with hating himself for his inability to save Calliope so, at times, he can come off as distant. But don’t let him wallow, because if there’s one thing Apollo doesn’t need is the opportunity for more wallowing.

To romance Apollo, you must also pick all of the heart options whenever they appear in conversations with him. There is also a confrontation scene between himself and Persephone, where Grace has to choose between following one or the other. If you want to romance Apollo, you’ll need to choose him over her.

Stray Gods Persephone

Persephone

The former Queen of Hades is a tall, butch drink of water in Stray Gods, wearing a maroon suit that matches her sharp undercut and a resting b*tch face that may leave you quaking. But despite her tough demeanor, there’s a sweet heart hiding underneath.

As a romance option, Persephone is a little prickly towards Grace but for a very good reason. There’s also the fact that she’s been let down by the other Idols, and as such, she’s not got a lot of trust to spare.

To romance Persephone in Stray Gods, you will need to choose the heart options when they show up during your conversations with her. These are clearly labeled with a heart, so they should be hard to miss for visually-able players. Beyond that, there is a point in the game where you will need to decide to follow either Apollo or Persephone. If you want to romance the goddess of Spring, you will need to side with her during this confrontation.
