Red, White & Royal Blue is out now
The movie adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s LGBTQ+ romance novel Red, White & Royal Blue is now available to watch on Amazon Prime in multiple regions across the globe. It released on the streaming service on Thursday at 12 a.m. UTC.
This book tells the story of the bisexual son of the first-ever female president of the United States named Alex, who ends up in an altercation with Britain’s Prince Henry during a royal wedding both families are attending. The boys cause a scene that basically becomes an international incident, which forces them to pretend to be friends to save face for their families and countries. Alex’s mother is running for re-election, making it imperative that their image not take any more hits.
As you might expect, as Red, White & Royal Blue progresses, the boys mend fences and actually become friends. They get closer as they spend time together during a diplomatic visit and continue texting even once they go back home. The two develop romantic feelings for each other, but global politics and family drama stand in the way of them being a true couple.
In the Amazon Prime film adaptation, Alex is played by Taylor Zakhar Perez while Henry is played by Nicholas Galitzine. Galitzine is no stranger to playing prince, as he was opposite Camilla Cabello as her Prince Charming in the 2021 Cinderella remake. Zakhar Perez, meanwhile, stole the hearts of many as Marco in the second and third Kissing Booth films. Together they should make for peak on-screen YA boyfriends.
