Unpacking is coming to mobile
Witch Beam’s puzzler describes itself as a “zen puzzle game about the familiar experience of pulling possessions out of boxes and fitting them into a new home.” Funny, because Unpacking itself is about to head to a new home too: mobile!
The gorgeous “item Tetris” has been available to play for a while now, on both PC and console, but now it’s coming to mobile later in the year. Finally, mobile gamers get the opportunity to see why Unpacking is such a wonderful masterpiece.
The premise of Unpacking is a simple one: you play as an unnamed girl as she grows up, unpacking her things and putting them into their correct place. There’s zero dialogue, with your only instruction being to organize your life and things per room. However, you are able to find out bits and pieces about the girl by what she has: a football, for example, a notepad, and a box full of coloured pens and crayons. She even has a Gameboy to show that she’s a gamer.
There is also a queer love story involved too, told through the placement of rooms, space (and lack of it), and so much more. It’s an incredible tale, so it’s little wonder that Unpacking earned itself the Best LGBTQ+ Indie Game during the 2022 Gayming Awards. If that doesn’t convince you to give Unpacking a go when it comes to mobile, we don’t know what will.
Unpacking is coming to mobile later this year.
