Lifeweaver, Overwatch 2’s newest support, is hot and pansexual

Need a medic? Overwatch 2 is keen to provide brand new support, Lifeweaver.

Lifeweaver, also known as Niran Pruksamanee, was originally leaked via a now-pulled article from PCGamesN, but information has been restored thanks to Kotaku. Cheers Kotaku. It is assumed players will learn more about the new support later today.

The team over at Overwatch has never truly strayed when it comes to providing hot new heroes, but this one in particular has us standing at attention. Not only does he look great, but Lifeweaver is (apparently) pansexual too. How this will be conveyed in-game or through the character’s backstory has yet to be revealed, but we’ll be sure to add him to our list of LGBTQ+ characters in Overwatch once we have more information.

Outside of possibly being part of the LGBTQ+ community, Lifeweaver is the first Thai hero to be added to the game. “The bigger inspiration of this character is the mandala shape,” Senior Character Technical artist Chonlawat Thammawan told PCGamesN. Thammawan had also initially pitched a Thai hero to the character concept team. It is seemingly no coincidence either that the hero is meant to launch during Songkran, the Thai New Year’s national holiday.

As for his kit, Lifeweaver is meant to appeal to gamers who perhaps aren’t as steady with their aim, but still want to feel useful. For most, that would have been with Mercy but if she’s already picked, then who else can you go for? None really. That’s where Lifeweaver’s abilities come in. With technology known as ‘biolight’, he is able to create platforms that can help other heroes change their positioning with an ability called ‘Petal Platform.’ His secondary ability, known as ‘Life Grip’ grants him the power to pull teammates towards him and shield them from harm. Then there’s his ultimate, ‘Tree of Life’ – an ability which creates a giant tree that offers cover for your team, as well as provides them healing.

Overwatch has also given Lifeweaver a friend in Symmetra. The two both attended the Vishkar Architect Academy, and both work with light in order to shape the world around them. So, as expected, their kits also tend to work well together too and players should expect some voice lines to further flesh out their relationship.

We’ll no doubt find out more about Lifeweaver, and when he’ll be arriving in Overwatch 2, later on today at 2pm ET.
