VCT Game Changers Championship 2023 announced
On Tuesday, VALORANT Champions Tour announced that the 2023 VCT Game Changers Championship will take place in São Paulo, Brazil at the Riot Games esports arena from November 28 – December 3. This is the same location where the recent VCT LOCK/IN event for Riot’s partnered teams was held earlier this year.
Teams will be able to qualify for the Championship via events in their respective regions, where they will earn qualification points based on their performances. Regions will be represented at the Championship as follows:
- Europe, Middle East, and Africa: 2 teams
- North America: 2 teams
- Brazil: 1 team
- Latin America: 1 team
- Southeast Asia: 1 team
- Japan/Korea: 1 team
Further details about each region’s qualification paths will be released soon, so teams will need to stay tuned for that information. The EMEA region, for example, has already announced that its format will look fairly different than last year’s, with additional leagues to accommodate and nurture the varying skill levels within the scene.
Last year’s VCT Game Changers Championship was quite a memorable event, as favorites Cloud9 White ended up falling to their regional rivals, Shopify Rebellion, in the tournament’s lower bracket before reaching what most thought would be a fated match up between them and EMEA’s dominant G2 Gozen in the Grand Finals. Shopify were very impressive, managing to make a lower bracket run to the grand finals, defeating both C9 White and Team Liquid, and taking the first two maps of the final. Unfortunately, there weren’t able to withstand the might of G2 once they started picking up steam, and the EMEA team are now the current reigning VCT Game Changers Champions.
Some VCT Game Changers events have already gotten started, so be sure to follow the team accounts and Valorant Esports to keep track of all the updates.
