Rainbow Roll Fest 2023 is accepting applications

Rainbow Roll Fest is an annual showcase for LGBTQ+-led actual play tabletop roleplaying game podcasts and streams held by the Rainbow Roll Network. This year’s event will take place from June 23-25, 2023 and is meant to “showcase and celebrate everything the queer tabletop sphere has to offer.”

The entire Rainbow Roll Fest event will be streamed via the organization’s Twitch channel, starting on the evening of June 23. There will also be a virtual convention hall for LGBTQ+ actual play fans to hang out and chat together through RRF’s Discord server.

If you are an LGBTQ+ actual play creator and want to apply to participate in this year’s festivities, you can apply via the RRF website. To apply, you will need to submit either an episode or video that best represents your show; the screeners will either listen to the first 15 minutes, or a 15 minute block of your choosing, depending on your preference. Two screeners will listen to each submission. There is a $10 application fee to pay via Ko-Fi, which goes towards paying event staff and charity donations. Once you pay this fee, Ko-Fi will direct you straight to the application form, which you need to fill out.

According to the Rainbow Roll Fest website, the organizers currently expect to select 24 shows to highlight during this year’s event, but this could change depending on demand. The RRF organizers consider actual plays to be “as any show where the hosts or cast members roleplay a story together using any system, including just improvising.” Shows that have interview or discussion sections in addition to the roleplaying are also eligible to apply. Applications are open from March 1- April 1.

RRF also has an awards segment called Rainbow Rally, which applicants can opt into when they apply. Participation in Rainbow Rally isn’t required to apply, though.
