Paradox announces new sim Life By You
During Monday’s Announcement Show, Paradox Interactive teased a new life sim game that is in the pipeline, called Life By You. The game is being handled by Paradox Tectonic, which is located in Berkley, California and headed up by former Sims Studio head Rod Humble.
Life By You is not only a new IP for Paradox, it’s also the publisher/studios’ first life management simulation game. Paradox normally specializes in strategy games like Stellaris, Europa Universalis, Cities: Skylines and Crusader Kings. In the trailer played during the Announcement Show, it looks like Life By You is fairly similar to The Sims, which makes sense since former Sims Studio head Rod Humble is now the GM at Paradox Tectonic. There appears to be relationship building between avatars (including between folks of the same gender, from the looks of the trailer), house customization, and travel to different areas. That’s pretty much all the information we have on the game currently, but Rod Humble and Paradox Tectonic are planning to host another announcement event on March 20 to provide further details about the game.
This is an exciting announcement for fans of the genre, as EA and Maxxis have had a stranglehold on the market for years with their The Sims franchise. In particular, The Sims 4 has managed an extremely long lifespan thanks to it fitting well into becoming a living game that has regular content and quality of life updates, like the recent additions of surrogacy and trans-inclusive scars and binders. Maxxis also announced that The Sims 5 is in development under the code name “Project Rene” back in October, which puts even more life sim content on the horizon.
Those that are looking forward to Life By You will get more information about the game during the next Paradox Tectonic announcement event on March 20.
