Scarlet Hollow surpasses 20,000 copies sold

On Friday, Black Tabby Games announced that its Southern gothic horror visual novel Scarlet Hollow has officially sold over 20,000 copies.

“It’s been quite a journey so far, but Scarlet Hollow has just passed 20,000 copies sold,” Black Tabby Games wrote. “Thank you so much to everyone who’s helped us get this far, and thank you in advance to everyone who’ll be joining us down the line. We couldn’t do this without your support!”

In Scarlet Hollow players assume the role of a now-orphaned young adult who is returning to their mother’s hometown in North Carolina to attend their estranged aunt’s funeral. While they’re in town, they encounter a cast of colorful characters, including their surly, coal mine-running cousin Tabitha, cryptid YouTuber Stella, shut-in artist Reese, skeptic and general store manager Kaneeka, and more. Hanging out with these townies inevitably drags the protagonist into the weird happenings around the town of Scarlet Hollow, much to your cousin’s distress.

The visual novel has amassed a large, enthusiastic community thanks to its excellent writing, impactful choices, and early-access release style. It’s therefore not all that surprising to see the game hit such a sales milestone, but exciting as hopefully this will mean even more support for the team at Black Tabby Games and their future endeavors, which include the final three episodes of Scarlet Hollow and their new horror title Slay the Princess.

Scarlet Hollow is available on Itch.io and Steam and and is currently on sale on the latter platform for 25% off to celebrate its participation in the 2023 Indie Cup Celebration, 21% off if you buy it in the Horrors of the Heart bundle (which also includes Cooking Companions and Sucker for Love), and 24% off if you buy the Cartoonists Turned Game Dev bundle (which also includes Perfect Tides).
