Awesome Con accepting Pride Alley programming applications

On Monday, Washington D.C.-based convention Awesome Con announced that it is accepting applications for its 2023 Pride Alley programming, presented by Geeks Out. The pop culture convention is taking place June 16-18, 2023 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C.

The convention organizers are looking for “interesting, fun, interactive, original, and diverse programming,” so if you have an idea that you think fits the bill, submit an application. Anyone who applies must have a point of contact person who is at least 18 years old. All applications are due by 4 pm E.T. on Wednesday, March 29.

“Calling all queer nerds! Do you have a great idea for queer conmic con programming? Join Geeks Out at @AwesomeCon Pride Alley and submit a programming idea for consideration,” Geeks Out tweeted.

Awesome Con is Washington D.C.’s version of Comic Con and is a family-friendly event featuring areas devoted to science, books, younger kids, and the LGBTQ+ community with Pride Alley. “Awesome Con is a celebration of geek culture, bringing over 70,000 fans together with their favorite stars from across comics, movies, television, toys, games, and more! And just like DC, we’re smart, family-friendly, and inclusive.”

Pride Alley is presented by Geeks Out, the creators of FlameCon (the world’s largest LGBTQ+ comic convention). “Geeks OUT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that seeks to rally, promote, and empower the queer geek community. We do so by organizing events, attending conventions, coordinating queer spaces at other events, launching advocacy campaigns, and producing Flame Con – the world’s largest LGBTQ comics and pop culture convention.”

Some of the guests attending this year’s Awesome Con include Billy D. Williams (Star Wars, Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman, Batman 1989), Austin Tindle (Assassination Classroom, Tokyo Ghoul, My Hero Academia, Black Clover), Levar Burton (Star Trek, Picard, Reading Rainbow, Roots), and many more. LGBTQ+ fans looking to be more involved in the conventions programming should apply to be part of Awesome Con Pride Alley
