Coral Island Tips and Tricks Guide

If you’re already planning to jump into the wonderful and beautiful world of Coral Island as soon as possible, you’re not the only one. But before you do, how about we educate you on some of the best tips and tricks that you need to know before playing Coral Island.

We’ve spent a lot of time with Coral Island during our preview of the game, and while we wouldn’t say we’re experts there are still more than a few things you should know before setting out.

Some of these tips and tricks might be obvious, but trust us when we say we’re going to be giving you everything you need to at least make the early game be easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.

Players should be aware that due to Coral Island being in early access, there is a chance that some of these tips and tricks may change as the developers at Stairway Games make changes. If that is the case, we will make changes to our guide in order to keep it up to date.

Coral Island Tips and Tricks
  • Create chests immediately – One of the first things you’ll notice is that hot damn, you have almost zero room to keep things safe. Don’t be an Aimee and throw things into your storage bin either, because while you can put things in there for safe-keeping, if you forget and go to sleep everything you put inside is sold instead. Instead of that, craft a makeshift chest by using 25 wood and 10 trash – easily obtainable just by hacking away at things on your farm.
  • Upgrade your bag ASAP – Even with trash chests scattered around your farm, you’re still going to want to have some breathing room – which is why you should upgrade your bag at the general store as soon as get 500 gold. It may seem like a lot, especially during the early game, but you’re given so many tools at the start you’ll only be hindering yourself if you don’t.
  • Harvest those mushrooms – Foraging in Coral Island can be surprisingly luxurious depending on which material you pick up. Morel mushrooms in particular raked me in more than a 100+ gold altogether, and while they can be a rare find on some days, it’s definitely something to keep in mind if you’re looking to make serious money straight away.
  • Watch TV when you can – Once you upgrade your house the first time, you’ll gain access to the TV. Not only are you able to tell what tomorrow’s weather will be like – and plan accordingly – but you can learn new tips and tricks about the wildlife, as well as the different materials you can harvest. For example, every time it rains in Coral Island? It guarantees you’ll be able to harvest Morel mushrooms in the forest later on. Sounds like a good deal to me!
  • Keep something of everything – This relates back to creating chests, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned it’s that there’s always going to be something you might need to keep in order to fulfill a community board request, or craft something new. Even if you’re sure you won’t use a certain item or material again, keep it, just in case.

We hope that our tips and tricks help you in your quest to become the best farmer you can be on Coral Island!
