Can you be gay in Splatoon 3?

Splatoon 3 is here and it’s time to get squiddy with it. Splatoon 2 has officially made its way into the sunset, and it’s time for a revamp. Players can hop into Splatsville to take each other on in turf wars, anarchy battles and more, all while dressed in the freshest fits around. With so many outfit options and other character customization features, players have a lot of agency in terms of who they are in the game. But can you be gay?

Can you be gay in Splatoon 3?

This is kind of a weird, ambiguous thing, which is mostly for the better. There’s not really dating or sexuality within the game itself, be it in multiplayer or the story mode. Since it’s not explicitly mentioned in the text of Splatoon 3, it’s basically up to you to decide your squid-kid’s sexuality within your own headcanon of them.

The same goes for gender as well. Splatoon 3 doesn’t ascribe specific genders to the squid people, so it’s again up to you. All of the clothing and hairstyles are available for anyone to wear, and you can change things up whenever you feel like it. Oddly enough, the only kind of new clothing you can’t buy in this game is new pants. You can change between the various starting options, but for some reason you can’t buy any new ones.
