Dead by Daylight reveals Resident Evil favourites in new chapter PROJECT W
Dead by Daylight has revealed its next chapter: Resident Evil: PROJECT W.
This is the first time the asymmetrical horror game has returned to an IP it’s already included in previous DLC, though the occasion does seem to be a special one considering the three iconic Resident Evil characters Behaviour Interactive has brought to join the roster of Dead by Daylight Killers and Survivors.
Capcom’s Resident Evil has its fair share of iconic villains from Lady Dimitrescu to Mr X, but this time villain that’s joining the Killer roster is none other than Albert Wesker, a high-ranking official for Umbrella Corporation whose control of the Prototype Virus has allowed him to transcend from mortal limitations into something else entirely…
Joining him are two of Resident Evil’s popular heroines: Ada Wong and Rebecca Chambers. Ada Wong is the femme fatale of the franchise, and her desires are as ambiguous as she is herself. She’s a valuable ally – as long as you make yourself useful. Then there’s Rebecca Chambers, a talented field medic who joined S.T.A.R.S when she was 18.
“The Resident Evil franchise has given birth to a multitude of acclaimed characters throughout the past quarter of a century, with every fan having their favorite. So, allowing them to step into the shoes of the nefarious Wesker, or famed protagonists Ada Wong and Rebecca Chambers, is a way for us to treat our players, while taking the Dead by Daylight experience to the next level,” explains Dave Richard, Creative Director for Dead by Daylight.
In an official statement from Capcom, the publisher explains that merging the many iterations of the Resident Evil characters (specifically Albert Wesker) and seeing them stand on their own two feet in a new universe has been a “proud moment” for the team. “Melding two iconic horror universes together is not an easy feat – but the results are wonderful and we hope the fans will enjoy.”
The Dead by Daylight: Resident Evil: PROJECT W Chapter will be available sometime soon via PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia.
