The Apex Legends Gaiden event kicks off next week
On Thursday, Respawn and EA announced the next event for Apex Legends, the Gaiden event, which will run from July 19 – August 2. The event is anime themed and is bringing 40 event-limited cosmetic items and the return of the Armed and Dangerous limited-time mode. This will be the first event after the latest update to fix several issues that had been plaguing the game.
Are you…Armed and Dangerous?
The Apex Legends Gaiden event marks the return of the limited-time Armed and Dangerous mode. In this version of the game, players only have access to shotguns and sniper rifles, no other weapons are available. On top of that, regular loot is harder to find as well. This time around, Olympus, World’s Edge, and Storm Point will all be included in the limited-time mode’s map pool from July 19 – August 2.
Go Plus Ultra
The Gaiden event also features 40 event-limited cosmetic items that are inspired by anime from across various genres. Horizon has a mecha-inspired look, while Wattson’s skin seems to be derived from Naruto, Mirage’s is reminiscent of Deku from My Hero Academia, and Octane is rocking One Piece vibes. There are weapon skins that match these as well. These items will be included in special sale bundles that will run for limited portions of the event.
Those who unlock all 40 Gaiden event cosmetics in Apex Legends will also unlock the latest prestige skin, Bangalore’s “Apex Commander.” This skin has a Mythic level rarity, and like all prestige skins, includes three versions players can unlock. After unlocking the first level, players can complete additional challenges to access the following tiers at no additional cost.
Players will also be able to collect certain event cosmetics by completing two weekly challenge tracks that are unique to the event:

- Fuse’s Down Thunder Epic Skin
- Bionic Buddy Gun Charm
- Epic 3030 “Cloudburst” Skin
July 26 – August 2
